Position

The Project Manager is a member of the Project Management Office (PMO) team.  The successful candidate has traditional and Agile project management expertise and an unwavering commitment to service excellence. The core responsibility of this position is managing assigned projects, meeting, or exceeding project KPIs by applying hybrid project management tools and techniques while providing a best-in-class service experience to project teams, internal clients, and vendors. The role will involve leading and managing cross-functional projects and/or serving as a Scrum Master when needed and contributing to the firmwide value of the Project Management Office.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Utilize Polen Capital PMO standards and templates to plan and deliver the project while providing transparency into project status and KPIs to the project team and management
  • Collaborate with Polen Capital teams and vendors (off/on-shore) to facilitate successful project initiation and alignment on initial project expectations
  • Work in partnership with Project Sponsor and project team to determine the objectives and measures upon which the project success will be evaluated at its completion
  • Facilitate cross-functional and vendor collaboration to define project scope, work breakdown, and schedule baseline, understand dependencies and ensure engagement/assignment of required resources
  • Collaborate with Polen Capital Scrum teams to define project deliverables to be added to Product Backlog
  • Support Product Owner in documenting project deliverables and creating user stories for Product Backlog
  • Assist Scrum Master to remove impediments in achieving project deliverables
  • Partner with Program Managers as needed to ensure achievement of project objectives as a part of a Program
  • Maintain centralized project documentation repository on SharePoint and ensure that all project information is appropriately documented and secured
  • Set up Project Dashboard and keep up to date
  • Monitor progress of the project and adjust as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the project
  • Identify risks to project scope, schedule, and budget and proactively facilitate solutions with the project team and management
  • Track risks and issues until they are resolved
  • Conduct post-project reviews to incorporate lessons learned for future projects and celebrate project successes and achieved business value
  • Keep up to date with project management domain knowledge to promote project management across the firm
  • Represent the Firm with integrity and model Firm values and professional standards
  • Contribute to establishing and maintaining best practices and standards of PMO for better serving internal Clients and vendors and strengthening PMO as a Center of Excellence
  • Serve as a Scrum Master when needed, facilitate all Scrum ceremonies and coach scrum team(s) in using Agile methodology and scrum practices
  • Support and educate Product Owner in writing user stories and refinement of product backlog
  • Champion and educate the Development team in maintaining all information radiators up to date
  • Collaborate with Agile Coach (vendor) in assessing the Scum adoption rate and the Scrum Maturity of the team and firm and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and firm.
  • Remove impediments and resolve conflicts and issues that occur
  • Enable team collaboration and mindset of continuous improvement

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 4+ years professional experience in project management (PMP certified or actively pursuing certification, Agile Certification preferred)
  • 2+ years professional experience in Financial Services, Asset Management, Investment Product Management, or related field preferred
  • Traditional and Agile/Scrum project management experience
  • Demonstrated leadership skills (steward leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution)
  • Excellent collaboration and facilitation skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Robust organizational skills including attention to detail and prioritizing
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Mindset of continuous improvement and commitment to agility
  • Advanced IT skills (preferred)
  • Proficiency with Azure DevOps product suite
