James Gruver

James is Head of EMEA and APAC and is responsible for leading Polen Capital’s growing international footprint. Prior to joining Polen Capital in 2023, James worked as the Managing Director of Heitman’s Client Service & Marketing Group, leading the firm’s global sales process, relationship management, client service, and marketing activities. He built a high-performing global client-facing team and institutionalized the firm’s client service and marketing function. Prior to joining Heitman, James was Senior Managing Director at Black River Asset Management where he led global investor relations across the firm’s hedge fund and private equity offerings. Prior to that, he held senior roles in EMEA, Asia Pacific, and North America for BNY Mellon Investment Management. James received a B.A. Economics and Psychology from the University of Notre Dame. James sits on the Board of Governors for Opportunity International.
